Fiberglass Prepreg Lines
NTRY Infrared Heating Vertical Glass Fiber Impregnation Line
The vertical impregnation machine is a high-efficiency system designed for producing semi-cured PP sheets from electronic-grade glass fiber fabrics and resin systems, widely used in copper-clad laminates (CCL) and related composites. It processes fabric from rolls in a single pass, performing resin impregnation, uniform coating, curing, drying, cooling, and rewinding. Its vertical fabric path minimizes contact points, reducing scratches and contamination while saving floor space. The drying oven features infrared heating combined with smooth airflow, preventing "hard skin" and black spot defects, ensuring uniform curing, excellent surface quality, and precise temperature control. The machine also includes automatic tension control, precise temperature regulation (±1°C), and an efficient solvent emission treatment system, delivering stable, high-efficiency production while meeting environmental standards. Fully customizable, it ensures consistent product quality and can be tailored to specific process requirements.

Radiant Heating Oven Overview
The radiant heating oven is a key piece of equipment for drying and curing pre-impregnated sheets (PP). It can be heated by hot oil or electricity and provides either conventional or far-infrared radiation. Far-infrared waves are particularly effective for epoxy resin, as the energy is absorbed directly by the resin molecules, promoting solvent evaporation and uniform curing while minimizing bubbles and surface defects.
Schematic

No. | Unit Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
1 | Unwinding Unit | Feeds the fabric rolls into the line. |
2 | Fabric Feeding Unit | Ensures smooth and aligned entry of the fabric. |
3 | Fabric Storage Unit | Maintains a buffer of fabric to stabilize production. |
4 | Pre-Impregnation Unit | Prepares the fabric for resin coating. |
5 | Resin Impregnation Unit | Uniformly impregnates the fabric with resin. |
6 | Metering Roll Unit | Controls resin thickness and ensures consistent coating. |
7 | Drying Oven | Cures the resin; hot air or infrared heating available. |
8 | Buffer Zone | Provides tension stabilization and controlled processing. |
9 | Alignment & Cooling Unit | Adjusts fabric alignment and cools the material. |
10 | Edge Trimming Unit | Removes uneven edges for precise width control. |
11 | Post-Storage Unit | Temporarily stores processed fabric before winding. |
12 | Rewinding Unit | Rolls the finished pre-impregnated fabric (PP) for delivery or further processing. |
Design and Operation
- Modular design: The oven consists of multiple sections, with a height typically between 5 and 15 meters, depending on the fabric thickness and production speed.
- Separate upward and downward sections: The upward section gradually removes solvents, while the downward section completes curing. Temperatures for each section can be independently controlled.
- Radiant panels are installed on both sides of the fabric path, with adjustable distances (70-200 mm) to optimize heating for wet or dry states.
- "Air-seal" sections (air curtains) at both ends prevent solvent-laden exhaust from escaping, ensuring a safer and cleaner working environment.
Advantages
- Provides smooth surface finish and uniform drying; suitable for thick or high-performance substrates.
- Temperature zones can be adjusted to ensure consistent curing across left, center, and right areas of the fabric.
- Far-infrared heating directly energizes the resin, improving solvent evaporation and crosslinking efficiency.
- Equipped with staged cooling sections to gradually cool the sheets, preventing sudden thermal contraction that can affect size stability and flatness.
Maintenance Tips
- Regular cleaning of radiant panels, cooling air nozzles, and fresh air filters is necessary to avoid contamination or black spots on the sheets.
- Air ducts and fans should be cleaned annually to remove resin buildup, which can disrupt airflow and pose a fire hazard.
